Michelle: I joined to meet people
Talkative and social, Michelle Faust-Davis is the type of person who instantly knows a person’s life story and makes friends with everyone in the room.
When she and her husband moved to Phoenix in 2010, they didn’t know anybody in the large metropolis and joined Rotary to meet like-minded people in the area.
“We wanted to meet people who were involved in the community, but we didn’t want to meet just anybody,” explains Michelle. We wanted to meet people who were conscientious and cared about the community, and we wanted to find a way to be involved.”
Michelle says Rotary helped them learn more about Phoenix and the great organizations and programs happening in the community. She says that getting to know people with good values in the first few years of living in Phoenix was really positive.
“I enjoyed working with the UMOM community garden and volunteering with youth,” continues Michelle. “You feel like you are making a difference being a good role model to a child.”
Michelle goes on to explain that her decision to stick with Rotary was further enhanced when she found out that her grandfather was the president of his Rotary club in Louisiana.
“We hope to be involved for a long time,” she emphasizes.
